Five Muslim American women embark on a pilgrimage to Mecca. Noor is an Afghan American immigrant with a secret. Her tech CEO daughter Maryam is struggling with legal woes, while Noor’s nieces, the estranged sisters Sosan and Nadia, work to mend their fractured relationship. Meanwhile, Fatima, a Black Muslim convert, hopes to find her biological mother. Will the journey bring them together, or will secrets, rivalries, and old wounds tear them apart?Thank you Golden Thread for giving a staged reading to Pilgrimage, a new full-length play cowritten by Humaira Ghilzai and myself!
![]() The day is here!!! The Silver Sail, Book Two of the Coseema Saga, is out! When I think back on all the work that went into this--plotting, writing, editing, editing again, editing again--plus all the preparatory work for publication, I'm filled with exhaustion and relief. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a little nervous too--all authors want their books to be well received! I'm now turning my attention to doing it all over again as I write the final book in the trilogy, which will be titled The Word of the Muse. Gonna try for a December release date for this one. I must be a masochist. BUY YOUR COPY HERE You can also view a short video of me discussing the book and reading an excerpt on YouTube here. To sweeten the deal, everyone who buys a copy of The Silver Sail this week (either the ebook or paperback) will be entered in a drawing to win a bundle of goodies! The lucky winner will get: -A custom designed Silver Sail mug -Marshmallow hot cocoa -Chocolate sea salt caramels -A custom designed, autographed Silver Sail bookmark -Plus a handwritten note from me To enter, just email me with the date and time you made the purchase. As an alternative, if you can’t buy the book right now but still want to enter, you can do so by sharing one of my social media posts about the Silver Sail. I'm planning to post on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok. Just send me an email letting me know where and when you shared it. Deadline to enter is 11:59 PM Sunday, May 8. (Due to the costs of shipping internationally, this giveaway is limited to people in the USA.) I will draw a winner on May 9 and contact that person for their address. I'm over the moon about this beautiful cover for The Silver Sail, as well as the brand new cover we had designed for The Twin Stars! Both are by Lance Buckley. My YA space fantasy novel giveaway has ended. Congratulations Helene H.! And thank you to everyone who entered!
Be the first to learn about future giveaways by subscribing to my monthly newsletter. You'll also get two free short stories set in the Coseema Saga universe, including my most recent, Written in the Stars. Coseema is the Chosen One. She has special powers, she’s the subject of a prophecy, she’s instantly good at everything, and she’s the only person who stands between her planet and utter destruction. But it all feels too simplistic. When Coseema begins to wonder if she might be a figment of someone’s—or something’s—imagination, it throws her destiny into doubt. A short story prequel to the Twin Stars, from the perspective of Olive's fictional protagonist.

Happy New Year!!! 2021 certainly had its ups and downs for me. I'm looking forward to new projects in 2022, including: -Finishing The Silver Sail, Book Two of the Coseema Saga. Right now it's in the hands of my beta readers and on track for a May release. (We originally hoped for April, which may be pushing it, but things are moving along.) This draft is 88K words and 26 chapters long. -Beginning (and hopefully finishing) the as-yet-unnamed Book Three, which will be the final book in the trilogy. -Finishing Pilgrimage, a full-length play I'm co-writing with Humaira Ghilzai, and hopefully workshopping it with a local theatre. -Beginning and making progress on another new full-length play. -Seeing a production of my new one-act comedy Coffee Lady at Awesome Theatre in March. You can sign up for my newsletter to stay up to date on all my writing projects. Much more to come! Meanwhile...I've been having a ton of fun with an app called Wombo Dream, which uses AI to generate fantasy illustrations. It's addictive, and occasionally disturbing, depending on the prompts you put in. Here are some images I created for The Twin Stars: My YA novel giveaway has ended. Congratulations to the lucky winner, Annika F.!
